Portfolio Project-1 (Week 1)
The first lesson began with an overview of the subject. A portfolio is an important component of a designer's life; it displays our talents and expresses our personality when we are unable to meet with recruiters in person.
The necessity of producing a blog was the next topic of conversation, and I concluded from this debate that writing a blog may be utilised as a piece of display to our recruiters in addition to storing your thoughts and inputs. Another benefit I saw in the blog was that because it is a permanent record of your mental process, it can be used as a future reference to compare yourself to your previous self.
The discussion of how we should use professional language when speaking about or portraying our work continued in class. As a result, every project we do requires a means of representation, and we identified four key mediums: visual, text, sound, and sensory ( taste, smell, touch). Most things and everyday experiences we have are a combination of different mediums, and we tried to figure out the medium of the experience sir mentioned, which was kind of fun, and I also realised that when one sense dominates, we think the other senses don't help in that particular experience, but it's all the other senses or subtle medium that helps to enrich the experience, for example, Eating(food).
The chef Grant Achatz episode provided an illustration of how one person can achieve so much with an experience (eating) that is primarily focused on taste while also broadening the experience by allowing many other senses to dominate at different times. The scene in the episode where the chef loses his capacity to taste and tries to describe the dish using visuals and levels of acidity intensity demonstrates how well the individual understands his food.
